WHITESHADOW KENNELS
The Samoyed is the dog known with Christmas in its face, native to the northeast area of Siberia. Named after the Samoyedes, a nomadic people, the dogs were used to guard and drive herds of reindeer, also used as sled and draught animals. The Samoyedes regarded these dogs as members of their family, and today they remain people oriented.
Early polar explorers such as Nansen, Johansen, Amundsen et al saw the value of these beautiful, strong, and agile dogs. They are a member of the Working Dog group but are a truly affectionate and loving companion to young and old, active or sedate owners. We named our kennel after a typical behavior trait "shadow", where you go they will follow. We show our dogs in conformation and obedience and played around in agility, they have been on pet therapy programs in nursing homes, but first and foremost they have been family.
